About Chris Purdie

Chris Purdie is a Utah native that has been studying and producing art all of his life.  Purdie began his formal art education at Utah Valley State College where he will receive his Associates Degree in April 2007.  He will then attend Brigham Young University to obtain his Bachelors of Fine Arts.  He plans to teach art at the university level and continue to fortify his reputation as a professional artist.

As a student of art Purdie’s work demonstrates his ongoing exploration of materials, techniques, and concepts.  The connection between the layers of a painting and the layers of experiences in life is a constant theme in Purdie’s work.  His artwork has been featured in a wide variety of group exhibitions in Utah.  He has also been featured in solo shows and his work can be found in private and corporate collections throughout the United States.
